Anyone planning to bring in an organiser will want to know what to expect on cost. There is no single answer, because the price of a project depends on several things. This page explains the usual structure so you can compare providers fairly.
Common ways of charging
By the hour. Many organisers charge hourly for in-person decluttering and organising. This often covers room sorting, wardrobe edits, paperwork and home office set-up, and post-renovation unpacking.
Remote sessions. Video sessions, where an organiser coaches you while you do the work, are typically cheaper than in-person visits, since no travel is involved.
Bespoke quotes. House moves and unpacking jobs vary so much that a custom quote is the norm.
Event planning. Planning support for small gatherings is often hourly too, and ready-made toolkits, such as a children’s party planning pack, are usually offered at a fixed price.
What changes the total
- The size of the space and how much is in it
- How much needs to be sorted, removed or purchased for storage
- Whether the work is done in person or online
- Travel and access
- How quickly you want the work completed
Questions to ask before you commit
- Is there a free initial consultation?
- What is included in the hourly rate?
- How will the estimate be confirmed, and in writing?
- What are the terms on deposits, cancellation and rescheduling?
